Post-Production Update

September 14, 2009

I am very pleased to announce we are very close to picture lock!  Saw Kali’s new edit of “Johnny’s Leaving,” and it looks more than incredible!  Rich, the crew and myself were astonished with the new cut.  Kali is truly a talented Director and Editor!

Also would like to announce (if I haven’t already) that the Seigler Brothers will be scoring the film.  Jonathan Seigler (the older brother of the two) is a very talented pianist and has graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2008.  His younger brother Jacob is also a budding musician and record producer, primarily for his work with the music group “Ipazzi.”  Having the brothers collaborate is definitely going to produce a wonderful score.  Did I mention they are also from South Orange?

Keep your eyes open for drafts of the poster and dvd cover designed by Chris Campbell.  A new Brotherhood Productions website is also in the works so stay tuned!

Sets By Teri!

Day 2 – 5:30 p.m.

This is just short and simple.  Here are some of the shots Teri took of the set she has designed.  Is there a better word than amazing?  Please let me know!

Day 2 – Lunch Update

May 2, 2009

Day 2 – 5:15 p.m.

Ok lunch break has given me the time to keep everyone posted!  We had really fallen behind schedule around 1:00 p.m.  Kali is extremely detail oriented and wants to make sure his film is perfect.  We are more than sure this film will be perfect but the entire crew (including myself) had lost track of time completely!

Brent being a great Assistant Director had gotten the crew back on track!  Owen and I have been overlooking some of the footage so far and even with a barebones equipment list, Leighton is still able to pull off professional quality images.

Lunch is about to end and everyone needs to get back to work!  Surprisingly, people haven’t fallen asleep while working since the average sleep time for the crew has been about 3 hours.  Check back again!

Cast Is Here!

May 2, 2009

Day 2 – 11:25 a.m.

Our primary cast has just arrived on time!  Brent (Asst. Dir.) has been running through lines for 20 minutes.  Shooting is still on schedule for 12:00 p.m.  Photos of the cast in full wardrobe will be up soon!  Kali, Teri, Jon, and Leighton are completing the last details on the bedroom which looks fantastic already!  Teri has done an excellent job as Art Director!

Owen is transferring all of our footage from last night.  Even without an assistant, Leighton has been on point.  Our crew is the perfect example of diligence, hard work, and unity.

Our philosophy of the day is brought to us by filmmaker David Lynch who wrote, “I’d like to say: I deeply love film; I love catching the ideas; and I love to meditate.  I love enlivening unity.  And I think the enlivening of unity brings a better and better life.”  Perfect for our crew!  Even though we are on only 3 hours of sleep, we continue to strive on!  Still have a long day ahead of us, check back for more!

Day 2 – Way Too Early

May 2, 2009

Day 2 – 7:50 a.m.

We ended really late last night just to wake up today at 5 am.  Brent had some car trouble but it didn’t send us behind much at all.  All of us are on an average of 3 hours of sleep but its nothing Dunkin’ Donuts coffee can’t solve.   Leighton and Kali are planning out the shots for today right now.  Cast call is currently 11 a.m. but our supporting actor is coming all the way from Maryland.  We sure hope he’s on time.

Here are some of the remaining photos from the shoot last night.

Day One Update

May 1, 2009

Day 1 – 6:31 p.m.

Rich and I have just completed some number crunching on today’s budget.  Based on what we paid for, large expenses and planned expenses, our film is WAY under budget!  This gives us more freedom to send out our film to festivals around the globe and more exposure for Brotherhood Productions and the crew.

On the production side, we are running some test shots with the new camera, lens adapter and crane.  Right now we are waiting for the sun to set so we can really get the ball rolling on principal photography!

Some photos of the crew are attached below courtesy Teri Jacobs!

P.S. – Brotherhood Productions has an AIM account that Richard and I monitor.  Feel free to IM us at bhoodproductions for a live update!

Tech Scout

Happy Johnny Day! We have been working on “Johnny’s Leaving” all day long. Kali and Teri have been working vigorously on Art Direction while Leighton and I are nearly done building our tracking dolly.
Right now, I am writing this from our shooting location. Kali, Leighton, and Teri are scouting out the rooms of the home so set up on our first day of production is flawless.
We labeled today “Johnny Day” because we planned our entire day around pre-production. Quite clever from T.Jacobs! Here are the photos of the crew working and some shots of our shooting location. Enjoy!
